Day One Jams (“we,” “us”) is a community for musicians who’ve never played with others before. Trust and safety are the heart of what we do, so we’re careful with your information and we explain it plainly here. This policy describes what we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.
Information we collect
- Account & verification. Your name, email address, mobile phone number, and password. To keep every member real, we verify your email and phone and require multi-factor authentication.
- Profile. What you share to find jam partners — your instruments, genres, comfort level, a short bio, an optional profile photo, and how you’d like your name shown to others.
- Location. The city you tell us. We convert it to an approximate city-center point to power the distance filter — we never collect or store your exact address.
- Content you create. Jams you host or join, jam photos, messages, and community posts.
- Usage. Basic technical and log information your browser sends when you use the app, used to keep it running and secure.
How we use your information
- To provide the service and match you with beginner-friendly jams.
- To verify identity and keep the community safe — the verified badge means email, phone, and multi-factor checks all passed.
- To send you account, verification, and activity notifications.
- To review reports, enforce our Terms, and protect members.
How your information is shared
We don’t sell your personal information. We share it only:
- With other members, as you choose — your profile, the name display you select, your approximate city, and content you post. Your exact contact details are never shown to other members.
- With service providers that run the app on our behalf: Clerk (authentication and verification), Supabase (database and photo storage), Microsoft Azure (hosting), and SendGrid (email). They may process your information only to provide these services.
- For legal and safety reasons, when we believe it’s necessary to comply with the law or protect the rights and safety of our members.
Your choices and rights
- Access and update. View and edit your profile any time in Settings, including how your name is displayed.
- Deletion. You can ask us to delete your account and personal information; doing so removes your profile and the content tied to it. Contact us at the address below.
- Blocking and reporting. You can block members and report anything that doesn’t feel right, confidentially.
Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights over your information; contact us and we’ll honor them where the law requires.
Data retention
We keep your information for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide the service. When you delete your account, we remove your personal information, except where we must retain limited records for legal, security, or safety reasons.
Security
We protect your information with encrypted connections, row-level database access controls, and identity verification. No service can be perfectly secure, but safety is our core focus and we work hard to earn your trust.
Age requirement
Day One Jams is for adults. You must be at least 18 years old to create an account, because members meet in person to make music together.
Changes to this policy
We’ll update this page as the product grows and post the new “last updated” date. If changes are significant, we’ll let members know.
